The premise of this book is great: girl whose childhood playmate (not somebody she particularly likes) goes missing sets up a Missing Person Agency as an adult and develops OCD as a result of the trauma caused by the child's disappearence. There is so much potential here for a great story, but then it just descends into whimsy, and over-complicated, illogical whimsy at that. I finished the book as a matter of principle but it just got worse as it went on. Ms Ahern has the potential to be a great storyteller and a great writer but honestly I could not recommend this book to anyone.
