This Trade Paper Back (Reprinting Ultimate X-Men Issues 54-57) shows us the X-Men in a slightly new light. Wolverine has run off, Storm has followed and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants are no-where to be seen. Fans of the nineties cartoon, or the "standard" comics will recognise the name Mojo, but as you see here in the Ultimate Series, he is no alien. He is just a large albino hell bent on a real life "Battle Royale" like TV show, being filmed on the island Krakoa, off the coast of the X-famed Genosha.Basically a young "innocent" mutant is being hunted down on the sick TV show by human beings. And the humans watching the show seem to think the mutant, called "Longshot", killed an important politician for the island of Genoshia, but has he...?To be honest, this volume is not as good as previous story arcs. Perhaps I'm comparing the volume too much rather than letting it stand by itself as a work of art. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good story, very well thought out, but the previous books were better, if you know what I mean. The absense of the great and popular Wolverine probably has something to do with this? Or perhaps it's the fact that the team is split up into two groups, and only one group actually does anything? Or maybe it's the fact that the story focuses on "unknown" characters?All in all, not as good as the previous books, but worth it if you like the series!
