Car Pool is a sexy romantic story of the type we have come to expect from Karin Kallmaker but this time she does stray from her formula of girl meets girl, girl loses girl, girl makes up with girl, that she has used so well in other books of hers that I have read. In Car Pool the principal characters, Anthea and Shay are much too busy battling against the ecologically unsound practices of thei employer to seriously fall out with each other. The romantic scenes are obviously the work of an experienced writer and entirely believable. I found Car Pool to be less of a "holiday read" than other Kallmakers I have read and I enjoyed having to think a bit more about the plot. The style of writing bears out this slight change of focus and once we have met the main characters it becomes convincing, very readable and at times humorous.
