Friends Like These - Danny Wallace
As the book opens, Danny Wallace is approaching 30, happily married to Lizzie, who he got together with in his earlier book "Yes Man", but feeling slightly disturbed at the number of "display cushions" in their home and wondering if he is really ready to grow up.
A parcel from his mother of photos, letters and address book from his childhood eventually sets him off on his latest "stupid boy project" as his ex girlfriend Hanne used to describe them. Danny decides to track down all 12 of the friends in his address book and heads off on various adventures and trips overseas in his mission to meet them all.
Funniest of all is the elaborate prank he plays on a friend who when they last met played a prank on him which he had never managed to get revenge for.
If you enjoyed Wallace's previous books, then you won't be disappointed with Friends Like These. There are the usual laugh out loud moments that if read in public could invite some strange looks. And, like the earlier novels, some poignant moments too.
I devoured it with delight like a big bar of chocolate, but without the sickly feelings afterwards! Definately one I'll be re-reading in the future.
