Adele Parks, one of the UK's most respected and prolific writers of popular womens' fiction has penned a 'quick read' book which aims to get the nation reading by providing a short, snappy novel. Therefore, it was never aiming to be War and Peace, but I did find the large font and narrative rather akin to a child's book. Fair play to Parks, the story which centres around divorcee Lisa and her young family zips along at a cracking pace. The characterisation is somewhat flat though and I kept wanting to give the main character a good talking to at some points, but otherwise I'm sure that the subject matter will be familiar to the majority of female readers.
