I first picked up Twilight out of interest after seeing the name "Edward Cullen" pop up an astounding number of times in a "Fanciable Book Characters" web forum. I didn't expect that it would shoot almost straight to the top of my favouite books list. Twilight has a unique brand of romance and horror, combining them in a way that quickly captured my imangination and my heart. Even though I'm not particularly fond of vampire stories, I found that, through Bella's eyes, the vampirism storyline became almost secondary to the beautiful tale of first love - and then, just at the point where a normal romance story would begin to bore me, the vampires take over, adding a touch of adventure and interest I've only rarely seen in the romance genre before. I can give it no higher praise than to say that it is one of the most entralling books I've ever read. However, I feel I must also offer a warning - if you buy Twilight, be prepared to go out the next day to buy the sequels!
