I wouldn't say this is one of Sebastian Failks best but for me it beat Birdsong but that's only because I hated Birdsong. Anyway I thought this book was for a nice easy read when you don't want something to complex. It's a lazy day type book. The narrative was easy to follow the ending was predictable. At times it got boring and then there would be little bit of excitement. There was really a tying up of anything. Everything is still left hanging quite loose. I did enjoy reading it and at times it quite gripped me. It's not as detailed as Birdsong or Charlotte Gray but it was quite enjoyable A definite read for a lazy day
