Plays: Vol 1 (Contemporary Dramatists): "Gasping", "Silly Cow", "Popcorn" Vol 1 (Contemporary Dramatists) - Ben Elton
Anyone who's read the novel 'Popcorn' will know how brilliant the plot, dialogue and characters are. To see the book brought to life on stage is a great experience, if only to see how the expansive story in the novel was adapted into play material.Of course, if you can't get to see the show, this book is worth getting. The 'Popcorn' script, whilst no where near the brilliance of the novel, is a riveting read, whether you're a fan of the book or not. Both hilariously funny and compellingly dramatic, the brilliant, satirical story is more intelligent than you'd expect from the writer of 'The Young Ones'. The other two plays are good, strong scripts based around interesting ideas with witty dialogue, but it's Popcorn that's worth purchasing this book for.Highly recommended.
