Ex-Girlfriends United - Matt Dunn
After a luke warm impression with his debut novel Best Manwhich, whilst I found funny, was so-so, I really hit pay dirt with Matt Dunn's second novel 'The Ex-boyfriend's Handbook in which we are introduced to Edward & Dan, and their different outlook to the wonderful world of women & relationships. This book is a continuation of that novel. In this saga, Edward has to do the hardest task known to man. Maintain & develop a relationship with the female of the species. Dan on the other hand has a problem of his own making. His 'Love-em-& leave-em' playboy attitude has come back to haunt him, and forces him, through his friend Ed, and the vibrant barmaid Wendy, to consider a change of lifestyle.
I really love Edward's persona, and the honest way he strives to conduct the new relationship in his life. I still find it hard to believe that he & Dan could be friends in the real world, but, we do begin to see a small change in Dan to suggest that there may be another novel in this series(please Mr. Dunn!)My only negative mark against this novel is that I thought that the emphasis would be more on the Dan Character, than on Edwards, but, like I mentioned that can be rectified on the next novel in this series.
